Music Catch 2

 Music games are every where it seems with Guitar Hero and Rock Band clones popping up faster than vampire-crazed girls at a Barnes & Noble, it seems that you can't get away from the obsessive music game phenomenon. However, I have found a game that seems to take music games into a new direction.

 Music Catch 2 is a fluid collaboration of simple colors and pleasant music that draws the player into a field of relaxation and leaves you there. The object of the game is simply to move your mouse around as you collect a myriad of shapes ranging from blue to green while avoiding the red colored shapes. The ever so often yellow shapes that you collect increase the size of your in game cursor, allowing you to pick up more shapes with greater ease. Once in a while you will be graced with the "purple power" shape that will act like a vacuum to all of the point bearing shapes for a short time and then there is multi-colored shape that increases the amount of yellow shapes ten-fold for a short period of time, allowing you to increase your cursor size quickly.

The real joy of the game comes from the simple soundtrack provided by the developer. These 3 songs will undoubtedly relax you and let your mind wander as you collect the myriad shapes. The games progression is simple, only letting you start out with one song, one shape set, one pattern, and one motion for the shapes;however, as your finish your first song you quickly unlock more.

After you play through each song once you will most likely have all the points required to have every thing unlocked which is where the game goes from good to magical. The last item you unlock is the ability to use any mp3 online using an "mp3 url" which can be found at many sites online. This coupled with the ability to set the "randomize" feature on for the rest of the options, gives you quite a challenging and enjoying game that can be played many times over with your favorite songs.

Bottom Line:
Although the game will only take you a short 30 minutes to play and fully beat, it will keep you coming back a few times to try out a new song you find online. The relaxing nature of game is nothing to put down either. It is a great game for pause in your study time.
